Day 1: Opening Ceremonies
Our camp week started with an Olympic style opening ceremony, complete with a Torch Relay to light our Day Camp Cauldron.
Campers came ready to have fun in their PJ’s since it was Pajama Day.
In the Game Station groups were learning about the History of the Olympics and about a few historic games. They practiced some team building games that they will be competing in on our Friday event.
At the Craft Station they planned and designed their own country’s flag for our Parade of Nations on Friday.
In Archery they worked on basic technique and posture, and in Scout Skills they had a fun activity to learn about “Leave No Trace”.
During Unit Time, campers sang songs, played games and decorated thier unit’s tent. When they needed time to cool down, they explored the natural wonder of our part of the Cedar River. Throughout all that fun they kept an eye out for rocks painted with different country flags for our scavenger hunt.
We ended our day with an All Camp competition of “Gymnasts, Archers, Wrestlers” (Fancy Rock Paper Scissors) with the Blue team coming out on top.
